If you're looking for a free app for personal trainers, GamGym's Trainer plan is free for up to 20 members, and it includes the calendar, session packages, payment tracking, training and nutrition programs and online package sales. There's no time limit and no card details at sign-up; the only limit is the number of members.

This post covers exactly what's in the free plan, what the 20-member limit counts, what happens at member 21 and when moving to Trainer Pro makes sense.

What's in this free app for personal trainers

The free Trainer plan and Trainer Pro have the same screens. On the free plan you get:

  • a public profile page in the trainer directory (after our team verifies you),
  • weekly availability, days off and a calendar where members book free slots,
  • session types and session packages, plus time-based and combined packages,
  • two-sided session confirmation with an attendance code that changes every 30 seconds,
  • member records: package, sessions left, payments, debt, documents and measurements,
  • paid-in-full, partial and instalment sales, bank transfer notices and approval, a monthly Overview screen,
  • training and nutrition programs, the exercise library and ready templates,
  • an online coaching package for sale on your profile,
  • unlimited in-app notifications.

Your members use all of this through the member portal in their phone's browser; they don't need to install an app. How the screens work together over a week is shown in personal trainer software.

What to check in any free app

"Free" means different things in different apps. Before signing up, check whether the limit is time or headcount. An app that asks for payment after a 14- or 30-day trial isn't the same as one that stays free up to a certain number of people. GamGym's trainer plan has no time limit; the limit is headcount.

Then check how many people the limit allows. As of October 2026, the free tiers of foreign PT apps are capped at 1 to 5 people, and some have no free tier at all. A five-person cap is enough to try an app, not to run a business on it.

Finally, check whether you can get your data out. If you can export your member list, moving somewhere else later stays possible. In GamGym the member list exports as a CSV file.

What's not in the free plan

Trainer plans don't include gym-specific screens: group class timetables, QR entry at the door, a shop and staff management belong to the gym plans. A one-person business rarely needs them.

SMS isn't in the free plan either. Trainer Pro has a monthly SMS allowance, but SMS sending isn't live yet; it's coming soon. Online card payment isn't live yet either, so members pay you in person or by bank transfer.

What the 20-member limit counts

The limit counts non-deleted records on your member list. It counts registered members, not active ones: a member whose package ended but who's still on the list is included. Deleting a record frees a slot.

That matters because with online coaching, short packages and members who come and go build up records quickly. You can have 12 active members and 20 records on your list.

What happens at member 21

When you try to add member 21, the system says your plan's limit has been reached and the record isn't created. A new person trying to buy a package from your profile for the first time hits the same limit, because a purchase also creates a new member record.

Nothing changes for your existing 20 members. Their sessions, packages, programs and payments keep working as before, and no data is deleted. You have two options: delete a record whose history you don't need, or move to Trainer Pro.

When Trainer Pro makes sense

Trainer Pro holds up to 300 members, with the same screens. The decision really comes down to one question: do you want to keep records for more than 20 people on your list?

The calculator below shows which trainer plan covers your member count, read from current plan data.

An example. Picture a trainer with 16 in-person members who takes on 2–3 new people a month. Some newcomers stop after a few months, but their payment history stays on their records. This trainer reaches 20 records within two months. Trying to stay under the limit by deleting former members means losing the history of anyone who comes back; at that point moving to Pro is the better choice.

On the other hand, a trainer working with 8 to 12 long-standing members can stay on the free plan for a long time.

To move to Pro, write to us from the Subscription page in the panel after signing up, and our team switches your plan. There's no self-service plan change or card payment step. Current pricing is on the for trainers page.

How to start

Sign-up happens on the become a trainer page and takes a few minutes:

  1. Enter your first name, last name, phone, email and password.
  2. Choose your city and district. If you only work online, tick the online coaching option and you don't need to choose a city.
  3. Add up to 8 specialties and a short headline that appears under your name.
  4. Verify your phone number. The panel opens right away.

If your phone number is already registered at a gym as staff or a member, no second account is created; your trainer business is linked to your existing account.

A setup checklist waits for you in the panel: profile text, available hours, session type, first package and first member. Each step takes you to the right screen.

Getting listed in the directory

Most trainers looking for a free app want two things: to organise their work and to find new members. The directory handles the second. You can use the panel straight after signing up, but to appear in the trainer directory our team needs to verify your profile. After that you're listed by city, district and specialty; online-only trainers appear under the online filter.

Your directory page shows your profile, session types and lowest price, online packages, weekly availability and reviews members leave after sessions. You can hide a section from the public page; your members still see it.

Common mistakes

Adding only new members instead of entering everyone on day one. As long as older members stay in WhatsApp, you're running two systems. Enter your current members with their remaining sessions and debts in the first week.

Scheduling sessions before defining a package. Session credits come off a package; no package, no count.

Treating the limit as active members. Members whose package has ended still count; review your list once a month.

Leaving the profile text empty. A verified profile with no introduction gives someone who finds you in the directory no reason to choose you.

Getting started

Sign up for free with the become a trainer form. Start by entering your available hours and the package you sell most, then add your current members. Member and payment records are covered in detail in member and payment tracking for trainers.
