Selling memberships online: winning members while the gym is closed
Someone looking at your gym at 11 p.m. can pick a plan, sign the paperwork or ask for a trial without waiting for the morning. Here is how online sales work in GamGym today.

Most of the members a gym loses walk away while the doors are shut. Someone searching for a gym at 11 p.m. who can't see your plans and prices will decide in the morning, usually on somebody else's page. Online membership sales give that person something to do the same night: pick a plan, enter their details, sign the contract, and spend two minutes at your front desk the next day instead of ten.
Let's be clear about what works in GamGym today, because "online sales" makes most people think of card payments. Online card payment is not open in GamGym yet. Right now, a membership bought online is paid at the gym, at the front desk, or with a bank transfer notice. We'd rather say that up front. In our view the valuable part of a sale happens before the payment anyway: the decision, the contact details and the signed paperwork.
How it works, step by step
- In the panel, the gym chooses which plans are open for online sale. You might open the monthly and three-month plans and keep the corporate plan offline.
- A visitor opens your gym page, compares plans and prices, picks one and signs in to the member portal with their phone number.
- Any documents the gym requires, such as the membership contract and the PAR-Q health questionnaire, are signed on screen at this step.
- The membership is created as "pending" and starts once payment is complete.
- If nobody pays, the order cancels itself after 3 days by default, so abandoned records don't pile up.
The only new task for the front desk is checking pending online orders and taking payment. When the person arrives, their details are in, the contract is signed and the plan is chosen.
Why it helps even without card payment
At the front desk, time goes into the form, not the payment: name, phone, date of birth, emergency contact, reading the contract, ticking every PAR-Q question. Picture a gym with 300 members that signs up 40 new people a month, each taking 10 minutes. That's roughly 7 hours of desk time a month, mostly during the busiest evening hours.
With an online sign-up, the details and signatures arrive in advance. The desk takes the payment, activates the membership and sends the person in, and whoever is queuing behind them waits less.
Timing matters too. Someone who picks a plan at night has moved past "I'll think about it". Getting them to come in and pay is much easier than convincing them from scratch. If they don't show up, the order lapsing after 3 days tells you who changed their mind, and you can call them.
Not ready to buy: the trial request
Plenty of people want to see the gym before paying. The trial request form on your gym page is for them. A name, a phone number and KVKK consent are enough. The request lands on the lead board in your panel as "new", with today as the follow-up date. If the same phone number already has an open lead, that lead is updated instead of a duplicate being created.
A lead moves through new, contacted, trial booked, trial done, and won or lost. That board replaces the "call on Monday" notes scribbled at the desk. You can see who was called, who came for a trial class and who joined, and at the end of the month you can count how many trials turned into memberships. That's the most honest number you have for judging whether your ads and flyers work.
The 14-day withdrawal right and "start now" consent
An online sale is a distance sale, so the member has a 14-day withdrawal right counted from the day of sale, with a full refund. They use it from the withdrawal option in the portal, and the gym sees the request in the panel.
If your online sales setting starts memberships on the purchase date, checkout shows an optional "start immediately" box. If the member ticks it, the time and the version of the text are recorded and the withdrawal option closes. If they don't, the normal withdrawal right applies. We cover these rules in more detail in membership cancellation and consumer rights.
Check these before you switch it on
- Are the names, durations and prices of the plans you open online up to date?
- Are the contract and PAR-Q texts ready to be signed at checkout?
- When should an online membership start: on the purchase date, or on a date the member picks?
- Who checks pending online orders every day?
The last one is the one people skip. If nobody looks at pending orders, the member hears "I can see you in the system but I'm not sure what to do", and the time you saved is gone.
Online sales live on your gym page
The online shop sits on your public gym page, next to branches, opening hours, the gallery, plans and classes. We wrote about that page and the gym directory in your gym's website and getting found in the directory, and you can see how GamGym compares topic by topic on this page.
Which plan includes it
Online membership sales are included in every GamGym gym plan, including Starter, the smallest. Plans and limits are on the for gyms page. Starter costs 2,999 TL a month plus VAT, and during the 3-month free trial you can open your first plan for online sale and test the whole flow from your own phone.

Frequently asked questions
Can GamGym take card payments for memberships sold online?
Not yet. Today, a membership bought online is paid at the gym or by bank transfer notice, and it starts once payment is complete.
What happens to an online order that is never paid?
By default it is cancelled automatically after 3 days, so the pending membership doesn't stay on your list.
Is there a withdrawal right for memberships sold online?
Yes. The member can withdraw within 14 days of the sale with a full refund. If they tick "start immediately" at checkout, the withdrawal right no longer applies and the consent is recorded.
